Myles on the Clock was the title of Myles Pollock’s lecture for the society.Myles showed a variety of classic effects donning a different jacket for each theme – close- up, cabaret and children’s. Effects shown and explained included Vernon’s cap and pence, cut and restored rope, Trevor Lewis’s glass of whiskey from egg bag, sponge ball routine, puppet rabbit in hat routine and Chinese Pom-Pom sticks. For each effect Myles provided tips and techniques to make the magic work effectively. In addition Myles gave some great advice on how to manage your bookings, how to perform close-up in awkward situations, and advice on dress and body language. Bernard Visgandis gave a vote of thanks stating that Myles was a real gentleman of magic – and so it proved. Accompanying and assisting Myles was wife Linda and in the audience old friend, and former president of the society, David Budd. |
