The meeting commenced with a photo session with a photographer from the local paper as the newspaper is doing a feature in their glossy magazine "Choice" about the society. We await publication with interest. After this we got down to business with the theme “Tricks I learned in 2006”. First on was Matthew Redmond who did an amusing effect with a number of curses to show that magic was stronger than voodoo – and it was! Cliff Daniel performed a card trick he learned from fellow member Matthew Hodgkin in which he found the kings from a shuffled pack and a spectator found the aces. Bernard Visgandis showed us an excellent Ring on/off Rope routine and a coin through glass. Stephen Buxton, Bill Schweda and Elliott Green all amazed with some clever card effects whilst Keith Pearson had his magic bear read the minds of five spectators. Matthew Hodgkin read minds using a thought of telephone number and a pack of cards whilst Martin Key sorted out the black and red cards (thanks to Dominic Twose), attempted to read the minds of another five spectators (a JB. Bobo effect) and passed a marked coin into a sealed bottle (Charlie Justice's Prohibition). Finally Mick McCreath finished off the evening with one of his amusing stories. |
